PETG

PETG is used to print durable, functional 3D printed parts that need strength, flexibility, and chemical resistance. Because it combines the toughness of ABS with the ease of printing of PLA, PETG is commonly used for mechanical components, brackets, jigs, enclosures, and replacement parts.

Likewise, its excellent layer adhesion and impact resistance also make it suitable for protective housings, tool handles, and moving parts. It’s also used for transparent parts (like light covers or protective shields) because some PETG formulations print very clear.

Since PETG resists water, chemicals, and UV better than PLA, it’s often chosen for outdoor components, containers, and kitchen or hobby items.

PETG filament offers a strong combination of durability, impact resistance, and ease of printing, making it ideal for functional or mechanical parts that need to withstand stress. Likewise, PETG provides excellent layer adhesion and low warping, so it prints reliably without the need for an enclosure, while its chemical and moisture resistance makes it suitable for containers, outdoor components, and items exposed to liquids.

PETG is also less brittle than PLA, giving it a bit of flexibility to prevent cracking, and it handles higher temperatures better than PLA as well.

Additionally, some PETG varieties can produce transparent or semi transparent prints, adding versatility for aesthetic or protective applications, and it’s also widely available in many colours and specialty blends.

PETG is often preferred because it offers a strong balance of durability, flexibility, and ease of printing. Compared to PLA, PETG is tougher, more impact resistant, and far less brittle, making it better for functional parts that need to withstand stress or outdoor conditions. It also handles higher temperatures and offers superior chemical and moisture resistance, giving it a longer lifespan in demanding environments.

Unlike ABS, PETG provides similar strength and better layer adhesion while avoiding most of the warping and cracking issues that can plague ABS prints. Plus, PETG doesn’t require an enclosure and produces less fumes, making it easier and cleaner to work with. This blend of strength, stability, and user friendliness makes PETG a versatile middle ground between PLA’s simplicity and ABS’s robustness.
