All about 3D pen refill (filament)
The 3D pen works with plastic material: 3D pen filament. Find out here which types there are and how many you need for your 3D pen.

What is 3D pen filament?
The 3D pen refill is called filament. This is a long string of coloured plastic. This string goes into the 3D pen, which makes the plastic soft and malleable by heating it. Filament for the 3D pen is available in many colours, from standard colours such as red and blue to special variants with glitter and metallic effects.
Not only the 3D pen, but also the 3D printer uses filament. The main difference is that the filament for a 3D printer is on a very large spool and is sold in much larger quantities. For the 3D pen, the filament is on handy, small rolls. This makes it much more manageable drawing with the pen. In addition, you can order a lot of different colours cheaply.
Different types of 3D pen refill
3D pen refills (filament) are available in many different colours. In addition to the standard colours, there is also glitter filament and translucent filament for the 3D pen. This way you can make accessories with a unique look. It's fun to experiment with different types of 3D pen refills. The more colours you can use, the more fun. At 123-3D, you can also order glow-in-the-dark filament and metallic filament (for example with 25% bronze metal particles). This is how you make something truly unique!
How much 3D pen filament do I need?
3D pen filament is sold in rolls of 10 metres. But how much filament do you need to make something with the 3D pen? Exactly how much filament you need depends on the project, size and with what density you colour the project or template. Therefore we can only give rough estimates of the required filament for a project.
Example:
Project created with our print template '
Flower
'.
Estimate filament consumption:
±3.5 metre
(all colours used together)
The filament consumption is measured with an average filling. Do you make thicker or thinner lines? Then the filament consumption is higher or lower.

Our 3D pen

contain 10 meters of filament in multiple colours, enough for multiple colourful projects!
Which filament do I use for the 3D pen of the Action or another brand?
The 3D pen refill from 123-3D.co.uk can be used in any 3D pen that uses 1.75 mm filament in the form of a roll (so no rods).
So if you own a 3D pen other than the 3D pen PRO, chances are you can still use our 3D pen refill. This applies to the Action 3D pen (two types) that was sold a few years ago. Do you have a working version of that? Then you can fill it with our filament.
Do you have a 3Doodler 3D pen? Then you cannot use our filament. This pen does not use standard, inexpensive filament rolls, but expensive plastic rods. We do not sell these.
Do you have another question?
Have you not been able to find the answer to your question in the overview above? At 123-3D.co.uk we are busy with 3D printing every day and we like to follow every development. We are happy to share the knowledge and experience that we have built up over the years with you in our 3D printing help centre!
