Difference between PWM and FLX Fans

The Noctua fans are available in two versions: PWM and FLX.

PWM fans: The PWM version has 4-pin connectors. These control the fan speed via the motherboard or other devices.

FLX fans: The FLX version has 3-pin connectors. These control the fan speed by lowering the voltage or by using included low-noise adapters.

The FLX fans can also be used on most 4-pin connectors and vice versa.
